Beschreibung

Large sideboard from a shop fitting. Around 1900, made of solid pine wood. Restored ready for everyday use.

Straight-lined pitch pine wooden body standing on a rectangular base in frame construction with 2 large lockable double doors and 3.5 cm thick top panel protruding all round.

Fitted with 3 shelves on the inside.

Most of the surface has been sandblasted, sanded, ebonised and then sealed. This gives the wood a very special texture, particularly due to the natural indentations in the grain created in places by sandblasting, which is reminiscent of the traditional Japanese method of wood finishing Yakisugi or Shou Sugi Ban (carbonisation of the wood by charring).
