Beschreibung
A Dutch Baroque cabinet or linen press from the 2nd half of the 18th century. Solidly crafted in oak and accentuated with ebonised carved decoration and cast bronze fittings.
The cabinet consists of a three-bay chest base with convex-concave-convex curved drawer front, and a double-door top with moulded cornice with volute pediment and large ebonised central cartouche. Traditionally the place for the (Delft) vases. On the upper part, half columns of Corinthian order decorate the sloping pilasters, which in turn end in curved ebonised lion’s paw feet on the lower part of the chest, matching the drawers. Classical half-plastic carving in the form of amphorae and festoons decorates the door panels in their curved frames as well as the profiled curved apron of the base.
The top has 3 shelves and 5 additional drawers inside.
