19th Century German Cherrywood Cabinet

Hall cabinet or armoire from the 2nd half of the 19th century. Solid cherry and veneered on pine and poplar. Restored ready for everyday use.

Hall cabinet or armoire from the 2nd half of the 19th century. Solid cherry and veneered on pine and poplar. Restored ready for everyday use.

High rectangular two-door body with moulded sides, bevelled edges and large plinth drawer. The multi-chamfered cornice is attached with wooden dowels. The doors are of frame construction, each with a large panel. The back wall also consists of a frame and 4 cassettes.

Inside, the cabinet is fitted with 3 height-adjustable shelves on toothed rails and 2 small drawers.

224 cm high / 88.18 inch high,

136.5 cm (header) wide / 53.74 inch (header) wide,

50 cm deep / 19.68 inch deep.

40 cm / 15.74 inch,

43 cm / 16.92 inch.

Ready-to-use restored condition with slight signs of age-related wear including old woodworm channels (not active!). Entire surface newly sealed inside and out.

The following restoration work has been done: Left rear frame piece removed, trimmed and wood area in the plinth supplemented; visible edge glued on with cherry wood (thick veneer); frame piece joints worked out and permanently installed. Drawer function checked, partially doubled and function restored. Two corner mouldings added. Rear right plinth foot added. Doors re-hung, two new bolts fitted and new lock with key fitted. Surface cleaned and polished with shellac.

The cabinet can be transported in 2 parts.
