Beschreibung
Large display cabinet or bookcase in the style of the Aachen-Liège Baroque. Early 20th century. Made of solid oak with fine carvings.
Two-part oak corpus on pressed ball feet, coffered at the sides, with central risalit, rounded edges and fluted profiled cornice with segmental pediment burst by a central cartouche. A total of 10 doors of frame construction, 4 of them with wire mesh instead of wooden infill or glass. Faux glazing bars decorate the single glazing of the middle 3 doors of the top. Frieze-fluted jambs and archivolts frame the door, which is slightly recessed in a kind of niche, beneath the central cartouche carved in the shape of a rocaille with blossoms, which rises from the blasted segmental arch.
The carving is typical for the Aachen/Liège region, floral and in particular dominated by the rocaille motif, as can be seen not only in the cartouche but also, among other things, in the 3 wooden door panels of the base cabinet.
Inside fitted with shelves adjustable in height on toothed rails.
