A French sideboard in the Empire style. Late 19th century/early 20th century. Mahogany veneered on oak with a beautifully grained veneer pattern on the front.

A French sideboard in the Empire style. Late 19th century/early 20th century. Mahogany veneered on oak with a beautifully grained veneer pattern on the front.

Mahogany veneered oak body with rectangular ground standing on 6 stud feet. Front divided by 4 columns with 3 doors and 3 drawers under a slightly protruding top panel. Panelled sides. The round, slightly tapered columns with brass bases and capitals are built on the 4 front block feet and flank the slightly recessed doors. Above these are the projecting head drawers, which can be opened using concealed recessed handles under the fronts.

Inside, the sideboard is fitted with a shelf behind each door.

Back panel in frame and panelled construction.

Height: 100 cm / 39.37 inch.

Width: 180 cm / 70.86 inch.

Depth: 56 cm / 22.04 inch.

Internal dimensions of the drawers: 9 cm (3.54 inch) high, 47 cm (18.5 inch) wide, 43 cm (16.92 inch) deep.

Shelf height: 28 cm / 11.02 inch.

Shelf depth: 41 cm / 16.14 inch.

Authentic, slightly restored condition with a beautiful patina finish. Among other things, the following work was carried out: Functions of all doors and drawers checked and partially restored (incl. closing ability of the centre warped door). Various glued joints on the doors, as well as loosened panels and one foot. Bottom of the top right drawer partially replaced. Surface coating mainly washed off, small putties, retouching and then polished with shellac. Interior surfaces largely sanded and resealed.

The furniture cannot be dismantled for transport.
