Beschreibung
A beautiful unique wabi sabi coffee table. Consisting of an antique transport crate and a rectangular black hardwood top that protrudes all the way round.
The crate is made of pine wood and fitted with metal brackets at the corners. Markings indicate that this crate was originally used to transport bismuth ingots from China to Europe or UK. The remains of a possible date from 1913 can also be recognised. Although not originally built to last forever, this primitive transport crate has survived to the present day and, with its charming patina and remnants of the original labelling, is a rare contemporary witness to a specific trade between China and Europe/ UK.
Together with the removable top, the result is an extremely stylish piece of furniture that also impresses with its functionality.
It´s natural simplicity and the traces of decades of this originally industrial utility item make it a perfect wabi sabi piece.
