Set of 4 chairs by the renowned manufacturer Maison Krieger from Paris. Probably late 19th century.

Made in the style of the Italian Renaissance, as they were very popular, especially with armrests, in the 16th/17th century, not only wealthy homes in Italy, but also in Spain, as well as in Antwerp in Flanders.

Solid walnut frames with sled feet. Leather covering on the seat, as well as on the backrest gold embossed with coat of arms and French “Fleur de Lys”.

Manufacturer’s stamp (“Krieger”) on one chair leg at the back of each chair (see photos).

Founded in 1826 by the brothers Nicolas and Antoine Krieger, specialising in the production of high-quality reproductions of 18th century Empire and luxury furniture, the company became one of the largest and most important furniture manufacturers in Paris in the late 19th century and was known throughout Europe for its excellent products and their quality. Among others, Maison Krieger also worked together with the renowned master ebéniste François Linke. Until production ends in 1945, up to 1000 employees worked in the company’s huge workshops in Faubourg St. Antoine.

Authentic original condition. The wood is sturdy and polished with wax. Leather with various signs of use and minor damage (see photos). The seats should be re-upholstered. Both the walnut and the leather have a great patina!
