Beschreibung

A late 18th century display cabinet in the Régence style from Liège area. Solid oak, moulded and carved, with outstanding patina.

The front stands on three rectangular feet, the back on two (hidden inwards), traditionally dismountable, laterally panelled oak body with double doors. The central pilaster strip, carved flat with scrollwork ornamentation, and 2 angled corner pilaster strips lend the front an architectural structure. Suspended from external brass fittings, the upper half of the doors in frame construction are glazed with glazing bars and the panels below are subtly carved with floral and ornamental motifs. The upper end is formed by a moulded and cranked cornice.

Inside, the cabinet is fitted with 4 height-adjustable shelves in dark-stained pine on toothed rails.

Original brass key plate.

An authentic piece of furniture in good working condition with slight signs of age-related wear including old woodworm channels (not active!) and visible repairs. The surface has been freed from the old dark surface coating over time and now shows the natural texture of the old wood with a beautiful patina when unsealed. New glass panes were inserted. The shelves were completely sanded, refurbished and resealed.

The cabinet can be dismantled into several parts for transport (base, 2 side panels, 2 doors, multi-part cassette back panel, shelves, cornice).
