French buffet à deux corps with plate rack, so-called “vaisselier”. Lorraine, late 18th century. Solid oak and pine wood, partially carved with ornamental, volute and floral motifs.
Two-part body (upper/lower part) standing on 5 feet with rounded edges and moulded base and cornice.
Two-door side-paneled base cabinet with 2 large and one small drawer under a slightly protruding moulded top panel. Large quatrefoil motifs adorn the panels of the framed doors, which are hung on external brass fittings. A wide moulding on the left-hand door replaces the central pilaster strip. The drawer fronts as well as the pilaster strips and the moulding are decorated with carvings. Notched carvings in the form of a naive flower basket flanked by 2 rosettes also adorn the base of the furniture.
Behind the door, which can be locked with the original lock, there is a shelf in front of the cassette back panel.
Presumably original fittings and drop handles mounted in brass.
The plate shelf top is very flat and has 3 shelf levels. The front and top moulding are also made of oak, while softwood was used behind it. Naive carvings can also be found on the cornice above an artistically sawn-out moulded apron.

An authentic country house piece in a charming, original design.
Restored ready for everyday use. The old wax has been removed from the furniture and it has been completely sanded, revealing the beautiful matt texture of the raw oak wood.
The cabinet can be transported in 2 parts (base cabinet and shelf unit).
