Beschreibung

A classic 1960`s or 1970´s tea set from Tremar Pottery.

Tremar Pottery is a British ceramics brand that was founded in the 1960s in the small village of Tremar in Cornwall by Roger and Doreen Butts, who produced ceramics with a rustic and handcrafted style. Their pieces are known for their natural, earthy colours and simple shapes and are characterised by the use of slipware and often engraved motifs. The company existed until the early 1980s.

This set consists of 6 dinner plates, 6 dessert plates, 6 saucers, 5 cups, 1 sugar bowl, 1 milk jug and 1 teapot. The pieces have the characteristic matt glaze, the earthy colours and the simple but handcrafted detailed design with incised vertical lines on the cups and teapot. Their special smoky effect is a typical design feature of Tremar Pottery. These shapes and this glazing technique reflect the rustic and simple approach of the pottery.
This set features a robust, minimalist aesthetic that is also reminiscent of Brutalism, but with a much greater focus on craftsmanship in Mid-Century Modern style.
