Original 17th century renaissance confessional from Vicopisano in Tuscany. Made of solid oak.

This confessional can be entered from both sides. In the middle is the place for the clergyman who made the confession of the “sinner” either on the right or on the left. To do this, the clergyman only had to open the small window flaps, which enabled direct personal conversation between clergy and laypeople without the faces being recognized (see pictures). The door for the clergyman can still be closed from the inside with the original iron bolt. Usually there also has to be a curtain over the door to ensure privacy.

Dimensions:

200 cm high / 78.7 inch high,

128 cm wide / 50.4 inch wide,

75 cm deep / 29.5 inch deep

The confessional is in its original condition. Only damaged wooden parts were re-glued and the surface cleaned and sealed with transparent varnish.
