18th Century German Stripped Oak Baroque Cabinet

German provincial Baroque display cabinet or buffet. West German, 2nd half of the 18th century. Solidly made of oak and partially carved.

German provincial Baroque display cabinet or buffet. West German, 2nd half of the 18th century. Solidly made of oak and partially carved.

The wood has been stripped of the old wax, revealing the beautiful surface of the raw oak wood and allowing the elegant purist design of the furniture to take effect.

The corpus stands on ball feet and is coffered at the sides with slanted pilaster strips and a total of 4 doors on external brass fittings. Base cabinet with 2 drawers and slightly overhanging profiled top plate. On top the display case with glazed pilaster strips. Both the base unit and the display cabinet have 2 shelves on the inside.

Dimensions:

138.5 cm or 225 cm (total) high / 54.5 inch or 88.6 inch (total) high,

132 cm wide / 52 inch wide,

41 cm or 55 cm deep / 16.1 inch or 21.6 inch deep.

 

In the course of the restoration, some mouldings, glass panes and the back wall of the display cabinet were renewed.

The furniture can be transported in 2 parts (display case top, base cabinet).
