Large provincial hall cabinet or wardrobe in solid oak. Dutch-Belgian border region, first half of the 19th century. Ready for everyday use.
Traditionally constructed, two-door oak cabinet with side panels, moulded base, slanted corner pilasters and segmental arch gable. Fluted pilasters with carved Ionic capitals give the front an architectural structure. Two doors made of profiled frames and flattened panels with corner rosettes are curved to match the pediment and hung on original external brass hinges. The upper section is formed by a multi-moulded arched cornice with a dentil frieze, small hanging pine cones at the cranked corners, and a central cartouche consisting of a carved acanthus leaf decorated with a festoon and covered with various friezes.
Original brass fittings and original hand-forged iron bolts for securing the left door are fitted.
Inside, the cabinet is equipped with a practical layout consisting of shelves, a clothes rail and three small drawers behind a lockable small door.

In good condition, ready for everyday use, with slight signs of age and a missing rosette on the right door. The old oak wood has been stripped of its dark surface coating and carefully sanded so that the beautiful natural texture shines through without any sealant.
The cabinet can be dismantled into several parts for transport and assembled using wooden pins or plug connections and wooden dowels.
