Elegant Louis Philippe high chest of drawers, so-called “semainier”, from the 19th century. Solid mahogany and veneered on oak.
A “semainier” was traditionally used to store laundry for one day in each of the 7 drawers.
High rectangular seven-drawer corpus on 4 feet with rounded edges and slightly overhanging top plate of white marble. While the lower 6 drawers can be opened and closed with a key each in embedded brass key sockets, the hidden head drawer sans traverse can be opened with recessed grips on the underside of the panel.

Authentic restored condition. Among other things, the following restoration work has been done: The running function of all drawers has been restored; new historical keys have been added; the corpus has been partially re-glued; cracks in the sides of the corpus have been filled or re-glued; smaller loosened wooden elements have been added and glued on; the feet have been re-glued; the surface has been cleaned and polished with shellac.
