Beschreibung

A Belgian 1930´s Art Deco butcher’s block. Made of solid beech wood.

Since the Middle Ages, the butcher’s profession has been one of the most respected and lucrative occupations. This was often reflected in their high-quality furniture. Even back then, the first butcher’s blocks were made with a top consisting of many individual squared pieces of hardwood set on edge in a frame to ensure a work surface that was as robust as possible. The principle remains the same to this day.

This Belgian model in the Art Deco style from the 1930s still bears witness to the quality of these rare pieces today. After almost 100 years, the worktable shines in new splendour following its refurbishment. Placed in a kitchen, it is both practical and of enormous decorative value.

A old white painted base with 5 stepped square legs and a high frame containing 2 large drawers with wooden handles. The solid 19 cm (7.48 inch) thick worktop with knife slot and back board lies on top.

A brass plaque indicates the manufacturer from Brussels.
