A 18th century Galbée commode made of solid oak wood.


A 18th century Galbée commode made of solid oak wood.

Half-height oak corpus standing on 4 block feet with elegantly curved front and profiled base. Frame construction with 2 flattened panels on each side. Slightly overhanging cover plate with profiled edges.

The ornate handles and key plates are not original. The right handle of the lower drawer has a crack, but is firm (see pictures).


81 cm high / 31.88 inch high,

116 cm wide / 45.66 inch wide,

57 cm deep / 22.44 inch deep. I

nside dimensions of the drawers:

15 cm high / 5.9 inch high,

92 cm wide / 36.22 inch wide,

42 cm deep / 16.53 inch deep.

Authentic piece in good working condition with age-related signs of use, including visible previous repairs, especially to the drawer fronts. The locks have been replaced.

The chest of drawers has been stripped of the old wax, revealing the beautiful matt surface and texture of the raw oak wood.
